• Volunteer appreciation event - 2-6pm, Saturday, 9/18/10 at First Evangelical Free Church, 4220 Monterey Oaks Blvd., Austin, TX (map).   This will be a family event with food, fun, and fellowship.   RSVP to Scherry Taylor with the number that will be attending.
  
  
• Alumni gathering - 1pm, Sunday, 10/3/10 - Our first meeting for graduates of all previous dorms.   Volunteers - You're also invited to come catch up with their previous students.   If you have contact information for any graduates, please let Scherry Taylor know.
  
  
• Quarterly breakfast and volunteer training - 9-11am, Saturday, 10/16/10 at First Evangelical Free Church, 4220 Monterey Oaks Blvd., Austin, TX (map).   Both existing volunteers and those just considering prison ministry are invited.   RSVP to Scherry Taylor if you'll be attending.
  
  

• Prayer gathering - First Tuesday of each month, 7pm, First Evangelical Free Church prayer chapel, 4220 Monterey Oaks Blvd., Austin, TX (map).   Remember to let us know your requests and praises, as well as those of inmates who are willing to share them.

• Training to become a TDCJ "approved" volunteer
  Not to be confused with training offered by The God of Hope Ministries for equipping our volunteers, this is training required by the state of Texas.  New volunteers must bring their TDCJ training approval letter to be admitted to training.  Existing volunteers going for re-training do not need written approval.  However, all attendees should telephone the facility where they plan to attend in order to RSVP, confirm class times, and get any details specific to that location.  Upcoming dates:

• Semester 3E3 now underway.  More female life coaches are needed to work one-on-one with inmates. Contact Linda Dueker, GoH women's director for information.

  • Tuesday, 9/7/10 - start of orientation week.
  • 2pm, Friday, 9/10/10 - dorm consecration ceremony.   All male volunteers welcome.
  • Monday, 9/13/10 - first day of class
    
    
• Second men's dorm (likely 14D1) - still awaiting God's timing.   Continue to pray that all the pieces come together for a second dorm, so we can reach twice as many inmates with God's truth.
